Biology is a comprehensive, yearlong introductory course, which includes: the workings of the cell, the characteristics of diverse organisms, an introduction to genetics, and a look at the relationships between organisms of the kingdoms. Throughout the course students examine the relationships and traits common to all life while looking at the unique adaptations that life shows when presented with biological problems. The course develops an understanding of the role humans play in the biosphere. Laboratory exercises are an integral part of the course.
