In this course students explore modern performance styles. The course is designed for the more serious acting student. They identify, discuss, research, perform and critique performance-acting methodologies including farce, creative expression and action/subtext. Students learn the value of mental relaxation techniques, acute observation for character building, concentration, voice training, journal writing and audition preparation. Students prepare monologues or two-person scenes for presentation in class each week. This is a one-trimester graded course that fulfills one arts requirement. Prerequisite: Acting II or the equivalent.
