Drawing I: This course stresses learning how to see and draw objectively from life. Basic concepts (line, shape, form, value, texture, composition, proportion and measurement and perspective) are isolated and explored in structured assignments. Students work with pencil, colored pencil and charcoal.
Drawing II: This class stresses refining observational skills and mastery of techniques while drawing from life. Drawing the human head with relative accuracy of proportions, still-life and on-site landscape drawings are covered. Learning how to “scale-up” a drawing and some work with interpretive/expressive concepts are included. Materials used are pencil, charcoal and pastels. Prerequisite: Drawing I. This is a required course for students planning to take IB Art.
