	The Stoneleigh-Burnham instrumental music program welcomes each student at her level and helps her continue to grow as a musician. From beginner through advanced, through a wide variety of musical styles, students are encouraged to explore and develop their love of music. SBS has been recognized as a pioneer in girls' music education for its award-winning jazz and classical groups and for instituting a course in rock band. Whether you want to begin an instrument or continue a passion, the Stoneleigh-Burnham music program has a rich variety of offerings to meet individual needs. 	Program Highlights
	Award-winning Chamber Music Ensemble (Gold Medal at the M.I.C.C.A. Solo and Chamber Music Festival). The Chamber Music Ensemble was also recognized as one of the top five ensembles in Massachusetts. Award-winning Jazz Ensemble (Silver Medal at the IAJE All-State Jazz Combo Festival) Our Jazz Ensemble made history in 2006 by becoming the first jazz combo from an all girls' school to win an award at the IAJE Festival. The Stoneleigh-Burnham Big Band made history by becoming the first all-girl big band to win a Gold Medal at the I.A.J.E. Jazz Festival. In 2006 the Big Band and Jazz Ensemble were invited to play in the Five College Jazz Festival at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. They shared the stage with Smith, Amherst and Williams Colleges as the only all-girls high school band to ever take part in the festival.
