I have canceled classes today to celebrate the Stoneleigh-Burnham tradition of Mountain Day. The day begins with seniors waking their little sisters with the news that "Today is Mountain Day!" Then we all board buses and head to a local mountain for hiking and games. The tradition of Mountain Day has been celebrated for many years; it is a day for students to enjoy the beautiful autumn air and the New England outdoors, and to spend time with friends on a day off.

Also please take advantage of filling out and updating your profile information in order to help Stoneleigh-Burnham School better serve your needs.

The Parent Portal contains a Parent Directory. In order to share your contact information with other SBS families, you must mark the checkbox next to each field that you would like to share on the page titled Update My Parent Profile.

Password: Your First Name+Child Grad Year (e.g. Jane Smith parent of senior = Jane2008) *NOTE: Passwords are case sensitive*

The SBS Yearbook class is holding a bi-weekly "Photo of the Week" contest. This contest invites anyone in the SBS community to submit photos to Carly Nartowicz, Yearbook teacher. Every other week a photo will be chosen and displayed on the website, as well as used in the 2009 SBS Yearbook.

The Foreign Language department is offering a trip to France for a homestay experience and tour of Paris. The trip is open to French language students and is scheduled for June 2009. French teachers Miriam Przybyla-Baum and Bethany O'Connell have organized the trip through VIE (www.vistasineducation.com). There is a mandatory meeting for students and their families during Fall Family Weekend on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Room. If you are unable to attend but are interested in the trip, please contact Miriam to set up an appointment for late October.

The SBS Language Department is also trying to organize a trip to Montreal during Long Winter Weekend when dorms are closed. A meeting for interested students will be held Tuesday, October 7th after housemeeting. More information to come!

Fall Family Weekend is just around the corner - October 24th and 25th - and you are invited to return to campus to attend classes with your daughter, meet with her advisor and teachers, attend athletic competitions, performances, and an installation service for Sally Mixsell as SBS Head of School.
