100 Nights A Lasting Memory for Seniors

"I never could have imagined this night, it's amazing what happens in this room, after the flowers are handed out.  This is something really special."  said four-year senior Colleen Mangan of the 100 Nights celebration held on Friday, February 20, 2009.  The senior class enjoyed a night of flowers from friends and little sisters, followed by a dinner served by faculty members in the red room, the night ended with a sleepover at the Coleman House with Head of School, Sally Mixsell.

The Experiment in International Living visits Stoneleigh-Burnham

Chris Frantz, Deputy Director of The Experiment in International Living, recently visited campus to speak about summer abroad and cultural enrichment programs. The Experiment in International Living is a non-profit program that has been sending students abroad every summer since 1932. Every year, nearly 1000 students from across the U.S. spend their summer exploring the richness of other cultures through homestays, language training, community service, the arts, peace studies, ecology, and area studies. During the summer of 2009, The Experiment will offer 3 - 5 week programs in 28 countries around the world. Program examples include: Students can work with chefs at the Paul Bocuse Culinary Institute in Lyon, France, engage in community service projects in the villages of Northwest Argentina during a week-long horsetrek, study Spanish language through flamenco and traditional arts in Southern Spain, or visit the Galapagos with an Ecuadorian ecologist. Visit www.experimentinternational.org or call Chris Frantz directly at 802-258-3446 to find out more and request a catalog.

Debaters Defeat Roxbury Latin

On February 15th, four members of the debate team traveled to St. Sebastian's School (Needham, MA) for a tournament open to students in grades 7 through 9. The group included seventh grader Erin Moore, eighth graders Jiwon Yi and So Jung (Angela) Lee, and ninth grader Monee Neal. The highlight of the Parliamentary Extemporaneous Tournament was the defeat of Roxbury Latin by Angela Lee and Jiwon Yi. Lee and Yi won the first round, then drew Roxbury Latin's other team, and defeated them as well. Only a narrow 5 point loss to Exeter prevented them from an undefeated day. Good work girls!
