An Evening with Sally and Donald Goodrich: The Story of One 9/11 Family

Stoneleigh-Burnham invites you to attend a public lecture by Sally and Donald Goodrich on Thursday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Stoneleigh-Burnham's Geissler Gallery. The lecture is the second in the Miriam Emerson Peters Speaker Series in Global Awareness.  We hope you can join us for what promises to be an engaging and enriching evening. Below are some details on the Goodriches' story and the talk.

Sally and Donald Goodrich, founders of The Peter M. Goodrich Memorial Foundation and the subject of the documentary Axis of Good: A Story from 9/11, will speak at Stoneleigh-Burnham School on Thursday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Capen Room. The public lecture is sponsored by the School’s Miriam Emerson Peters Speaker Series in Global Awareness.

The Goodriches lost their son Peter on September 11, 2001 when the hijacked United Airlines Flight 175 he was aboard hit the World Trade Center. Sally and Donald created a foundation in their son’s name, which works primarily in the Pashtun provinces of Afghanistan to support education and address the fundamental needs of fragile populations. Sally directs the work of the Foundation, which has included the building of a school for over 500 girls in Logar Province that opened in 2006, as well as the digging of a deep water well and reservoir in Kunar Province. More on this event.

From the Alumnae Office

100 Nights
This year 100 Nights will be celebrated on the evening of February 19th. The event will begin at 5:00 pm in the Reading Room of the library where parents are invited to join their senior daughters for photos and then proceed to the Capen Room at 5:30 for the 100 Nights ceremony.

100 Nights is a longstanding tradition that celebrates the beginning of the transition from student to alumnae. It is a time for the graduating Class of 2010 to map their goals for the last 100 days and to begin to think ahead to the important roles they will lead as alumnae of an institution steeped in a rich history. Soon they will join the women of the Mary A. Burnham, Stoneleigh-Prospect Hill, and Stoneleigh-Burnham Schools as alumnae and the distinction of being a member of the Alumnae Association will forever be theirs.

Equestrian Wall of Fame
Stoneleigh-Burnham School is excited to announce the inception of the Equestrian Wall of Fame which has been designed to spotlight and celebrate the achievements of alumnae in various sectors of the equestrian world. Stoneleigh-Burnham looks forward to honoring these alumnae who have made significant contributions and have brought distinction and excellence to the field. You are cordially invited to attend Vicky Castegren’s lecture, the Equestrian Wall of Fame induction ceremony and the reception to honor the inductees. Please visit our Riding page for more details on the Equestrian Wall of Fame.
