Academic Honor Roll
The Winter Honor Roll Assembly took place on Thursday, April 2. Students were awarded certificates by their class deans and Academic Dean Natalie Demers. Holly Mott, Communications Director, was the faculty speaker at the assembly. Ms. Mott spoke of her educational path and how it brought her to Stoneleigh-Burnham.

Congratulations to those students who achieved academic honors. Click here for the full list.

Winter term grades and comments were mailed to parents on Monday, March 30th. Please contact Sharon Weyers if you do not receive your daughter's report by mid-April.

From the College Counseling Office

After a very busy college season, it is my pleasure to announce that all members of this year’s senior class have been accepted to a college. Although a few decisions are still pending, we can say that everyone has a place to be next year. I’m grateful for all the help and cooperation of parents as well as faculty that brought us to this successful outcome.

Colleges and universities on our acceptance list so far this year include Northwestern University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston University, University of Oregon, Wheaton College, University of Richmond, St. Lawrence University, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Mt. Holyoke College, Ripon College, University of Hartford, Guilford College, Michigan State University, North Carolina State, Alfred University, Wagner College and Syracuse University.

From the list above, it’s clear that girls were thoughtful about the schools to which they applied. Their choices range from liberal arts colleges to big universities, from rural areas to cities, from small schools to large, from business majors to art majors. They spent time deliberating about what colleges were the best fit and therefore already have the best chance for success in their college years.

On a final note, I would like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed working with so many juniors and seniors over the years as we navigated through the college process. It has been a pleasure getting to know them and their parents on a personal level while we contemplated the future. I will be moving into a new role as International Program Director next year and will be handing my college counseling duties over to Lauren Cunniffe who has already been working with this year’s junior class. While I’m excited about my new opportunity, I will definitely miss the excitement that each year brings to the college office. I would like to thank everyone who has been instrumental in bringing each year to a successful conclusion, I wish every future senior class all my best wishes.

Congratulations Class of 2009!

And They Still Made it Home For American Idol

The Parent Phonathon on the evening of March 25th brought several SBS parents together on campus during a busy week back from Spring Break. Angie Reynolds (Hannah '13), Els Oude Kotte (Charli Brown '11), and Ken Bordewieck (Mary '07 and Kathleen '10) made calls on behalf of the Parent Fund for Stoneleigh-Burnham School. Their conversations with other parents brought us much closer to reaching our goal of 100% parent participation, and they didn't have to miss a minute of American Idol. SBS is very grateful for their time and efforts. As the students gear up for our annual Alumnae Phonathon in April, they are inspired to see other parents working on their behalf.

If you have not yet given this year, the Parent Fund needs you! Senior parents may wish to make a capstone gift in honor of your daughter's achievements. Please make your gift today or contact the Development Office for more information (413)774-2711 ext.317.

Math Contest Winners

SBS held the second round of the annual mathematics contest just before Spring Break, and the results were announced when students returned to begin the spring term. In addition to the winners who were recognized after the first round, four more students were awarded gift certificates to Friendly's for their exceptional performance in this round. These included Yvette Tsai '09 in the senior division, and Eudora Lin '11, Kethrellen Peterson '14, and Linda Wang '10 in the junior division. There will be at least one more round to the competition later this month, and possibly a tie-breaking round in May, if necessary.
