Thank you families for making this Spring Family Weekend such a huge success. Attendance was the highest we have seen in years and the weather could not have been better. What a great way to enter the home stretch of this academic year as we prepare for Commencement and other end-of-year activities.

SBS Summer Programs

Stoneleigh-Burnham School is proud to continue the great work we do throughout the school year by offering a number of summer programs. All programs are residential and directed by current SBS faculty and staff. We offer programs in riding, dance, debate, softball and academic review. Below is a brief description of each program:

  • Bonnie Castle Riding Camp – a two-week camp for girls ages 9-16. Participants ride twice daily, take an equine studies class and participate in other activities which vary by session including arts and crafts, dance, tennis and softball.
  • Sorvino Dance Intensive – a week-long dance intensive designed for intermediate to advanced dancers between the ages of 11-17. Dancers will take part in classes for ballet, modern, jazz and West African, with optional classes in tap and pointe. In addition, participants spend one night at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA.
  • A Voice of Her Own – a public speaking and debate experience designed for girls ages 11-17. This program can help the accomplished debater hone skills and improve her delivery, and can take the most novice speaker and help build confidence in the strength of her voice.
  • Paul Bassett Softball Academy – a softball program geared towards girls ages 12-16. PBSA is an excellent way to improve skills learned during the season. The program offers sessions on base running, hitting, fielding and bunting, as well as the psychological aspects of the game. We also offer a free windmill pitching clinic for all interested.
  • OwlBridge – a three-week academic experience for girls entering grades 8-10. The program focuses on math and English and students receive one-on-one attention in small class settings. Please talk with your daughter’s advisor to see if OwlBridge is right for her.
  • Intensive Riding CampNEW this year, a week-long program designed for competitive riders ages 14-18. Riders will work with all 40 school horses and learn techniques for adapting to different mounts. Created with the methodology of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association in mind, the IRC introduces girls to the concept of riding effectively within the constructs of IEA practice.

Development Office Feels Auction's Success

The Development Office is proud to report that our 3rd annual online auction and 1st ever silent auction event collectively generated $8,100 to support the School’s Annual Fund! The silent auction was a great success, and we hope to double or even triple the participation and attendance next year. The impressive outcome of both auctions was largely due to our parent volunteers. Angie Reynolds P ’12 and Linda Gledhill P ’13 spent many hours soliciting businesses, making phone calls, gathering items to be auctioned off and offering their expertise to help us deliver a beautiful event. We thank you both!

As we look towards the future and begin planning for next year, we hope to reach out to you. If you have a favorite restaurant, an antique or even a service you would like to offer, please contact Stephanie Smith, Development Assistant. We are already beginning to build our auction catalog. It’s a fun and exciting way to raise money for your daughter’s education.
