In an effort to further our goal of offering a global perspective to our students, SBS has entered into an exchange program agreement with
St. Hilda's School on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. St. Hilda's is a K-12 Anglican girl's school.
The exchange program will be available for girls in the 10th grade only (SBS girls who will have just finished their grade ten) - applications are due from SBS students by February 15 of their sophomore year. Each exchange will be five - six weeks in length. St. Hilda's girls will visit us from the beginning to midterm of the spring trimester. Our girls will visit them from the beginning of July until the middle of August. SBS students will not miss any classes.
SBS girls will most likely stay in homes because St. Hilda’s has a large day student population. However, a dormitory experience is also an option.
There will be no cost to any students to attend either school. However, families will be responsible for travel costs, insurance (most families opt for traveler’s insurance) and spending money. Travel between countries will be facilitated by tourist visas.
Students are expected to attend classes, participate in all the activities, homework, lessons, etc. and otherwise be good additions to the St. Hilda's School community. There will not be any formal assessments, grades or credits issued, but there will be progress reports.
