While the students will be gone for most of March, it doesn't mean we can't remember to celebrate Women's History Month. President Obama recently ordered the first report on the status of American women since Eleanor Roosevelt (pictured right) prepared one for John F. Kennedy. Your girls are facing a much changed world from the one Roosevelt wrote about in 1961, but they continue to face challenges.
The American woman still earns on average 80 cents to a man's $1.00 and American girls are more likely to experience cyber-bullying than their male peers. These challenges present all the more reason to send your girls to a place like Stoneleigh-Burnham so that they can become strong leaders for our nation.
Did you know that graduates of single-sex high schools are more engaged academically, often score higher on SATs, express greater interest in graduate school, possess higher academic confidence, are predisposed toward co-curricular engagement and are more likely to engage in politics than their peers graduating from co-educational high schools?
As you relax during break, don't forget to remember the strong women who have come before and paved the way for your girls' success.
