Welcome to the Stoneleigh-Burnham Snapshot!

From the College Couseling Office
On Saturday, April 9 all juniors will be taking the ACT at Northfield-Mount Hermon School from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Day students may join us at SBS for a 7:25 a.m. departure or meet at the NMH gym at 7:45 a.m.

The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Math, Reading and Science along with a 30-minute writing test.

The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break (or just over four hours if taking the ACT Plus Writing).

ACT results are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the U.S. and can be submitted instead of the SAT. Juniors will also be taking the SAT in May and then will be able to determine which test will give them better results. They should do some test preparation over the summer and then take either the SAT or the ACT in the fall.

Please contact Lauren Cunniffe with any questions.
Miriam Emerson Peters Speaker Series
Please join us in Geissler Gallery at 6:45 p.m. on April 7 for this year's third and final presentation from the Miriam Emerson Peters Speaker Series in Global Awareness. We're excited to announce that Smith College Professor Christine Shelton will be visiting us. Her lecture, "Competing Globally: Gender Equity and Women in Sport," will address her personal experience with and contribution to the advancement of women's access, participation and representation in sport internationally.

This event promises to be exciting and informative. Sally Mixsell met Ms. Shelton at a function at Smith and said, "She will be terrific. I can't wait to hear her!" We hope to see you there.
First Australian Exchange Student
We're happy to announce that our first exchange student from St. Hilda's School in Australia joined us this past Wednesday. Her name is Carrie Bamonte and she will be a member of the sophomore class, living on the sophomore corridor, for six weeks. Carrie is participating in all aspects of our school community, including classes and sports. Carrie comes from the Gold Coast area of Queensland in Australia so we look forward to learning a lot about her part of the world as she learns about us.

If you have questions or want more information about the exchange program, please contact Andrea Patt or 413.774.2711 x242 or visit the exchange page on our website.
