On Saturday, April 9 all juniors will be taking the ACT at Northfield-Mount Hermon School from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Day students may join us at SBS for a 7:25 a.m. departure or meet at the NMH gym at 7:45 a.m.
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Math, Reading and Science along with a 30-minute writing test.
The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break (or just over four hours if taking the ACT Plus Writing).
ACT results are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the U.S. and can be submitted instead of the SAT. Juniors will also be taking the SAT in May and then will be able to determine which test will give them better results. They should do some test preparation over the summer and then take either the SAT or the ACT in the fall.
