Dear Fellow Alumnae,
A bright, shiny star will be leaving Stoneleigh-Burnham this year after a stellar 30-year career at our school. Cyndee Meese has recently announced her retirement from SBS. She has cajoled, inspired and entertained hundreds of SBS girls as well as MAB, SPH and SBS alumnae over the years, and we cannot just let her fade away. On a personal note, Cyndee has infused great energy and fun into many of the Reunions I have attended over the years; on a professional note, I have seen firsthand as Head of School how she has held her students accountable and pushed them to heights they didn't know they could reach. Cyndee's contributions to Stoneleigh-Burnham - in producing plays, directing music, coaching debate, teaching classes, and inspiring advisees - deserve our respect and attention. Can't you just harken back her infectious laugh, echoing in the hallways, as you read my note?
I hope that many of you will consider being here at least Saturday night of Reunion to pay tribute to a woman who has made a difference in so many of our lives. We are hoping, especially, that former Octet singers will return for one last encore with Cyndee who has agreed to direct you for a fun evening of song. For those of you who were not taught by Cyndee but sang in a previous iteration of Octet (e.g., Octette or Madrigals), we encourage your participation as well!
Whether you can or cannot attend Reunion, please send the Alumnae Office a personal note to Cyndee; we will include it in a book of reminiscences that will be sent later in the summer. We want to be sure to capture good photos of this event as well as everyone's notes.
I look forward to seeing many of you in June!
Sincerely,
Sally L. Mixsell
Head of School
