“Beauty, Proportion and Light in Oil Painting” includes thirty oil paintings of varying subject matter including still life, landscape and portraits. With a preference for working in water-based oils, Ms. Bassett achieves rich variation in values and light as she works to find proportion and balance in her subject matter. She considers her work to be a combination of impressionism and realism. In addition to oils, Ms. Bassett has a passion for pastels, which allow her to work outdoors and explore plein air painting.

Ms. Bassett received her BFA in Art Education from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst and her MSM in Arts Administration from Lesley University. She manages the Pioneer Valley Plein Air group in addition to teaching oil painting in the Northampton area. She has been a member of both the Deerfield Art Association and The Holyoke Art Association. Her work has shown in numerous locations around the Pioneer Valley.
