Inclement Weather Reminder |

Dear SBS Families,
The winter of 2011-12 has been quite mild in comparison to recent years. Despite the freak October Nor’Easter, Greenfield has been spared from major snowfall to date. However, we are predicted to receive 1-3 inches of snow overnight with the distinct possibility of freezing rain and sleet. With the weather forecast looking rather dreary, I want to remind you of the School’s Inclement Weather policy.
From the Community Handbook:
Inclement Weather Policy In general, the School will not close due to inclement weather. Day families are asked to use their best judgment on the safety of driving to School. If the Greenfield public school system or the day student's local school district is closed due to inclement weather, the student's absence will be considered excused as long as the School has been notified of the absence.
On the rare occasion that a School closure is warranted, that information will be put on the School's phone message, the website, on First Class and on local radio and television stations. Please tune into television stations WWLP CH 22 or WGGB CH 40 and radio station WHAI- 98.3 FM.
Day students have been told that on "snowy days" when they remain at home they are expected to check their email where assignments will be posted by their teachers. The assumption is made that the day students are at home working on their assignments and will be fully prepared for class the following day. Faculty members who have also had to remain at home are asked to check email, especially during class time, so that any student may get a question answered.
Your help will be greatly appreciated!
If your daughter rides the Shuttle and it is snowing in the morning, please call the Shuttle phone (413-883-4489) before 6 a.m. to find out whether or not it’s running.
If you have questions about this policy, feel free to contact Sharon Weyers at ext. 248. She will be able to direct your question to the right person, if necessary.
Warm regards, |
