Two students have earned awards from the 2012 Boston Globe Scholastic
Art Awards and three students have earned awards at the Annual Teen Art
Show at ARTSPACE in Greenfield.
In the 2012 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition, Dasom Y. was awarded the highest honor, a Gold Key, for her print "The Rooster;" Dasom also earned honorable mention in the category of Ceramics & Glass for "The baby with umbilical cord;" Brandi W. was awarded honorable mention for her digital photograph "Sara in the Sun." This annual art contest is open to students in Grades 7 to 12, with less than five percent winning the top honor, a Gold Key. Brandi and Dasom's work was chosen from over 14,000 entries. Dasom's print will move onto the National Competition and will be displayed at the Transportation Building in Boston.
In the 2012 Teen Art Show at ARTSPACE in Greenfield, MA Tillula L.-S. earned third place in the Assemblage, Collage & Mixed Media category for her self-portrait collage; in the 'Other' category, Yvonne W. earned second place for "Just a Scarf," her rayon & chenille weaving; and Hannah R. was awarded third place for "Blooming Leaf Throw" her rayon & chenille weaving. Students from twelve area schools compete in this annual arts competition with winning submissions exhibited at ARTSPACE beginning February 10th.
