Stoneleigh-Burnham School offers each girl a chance to find her voice, to articulate her ideas, and to participate in the life, the conversations, and the intellectual pursuits of her community. We are proud of the way the curriculum challenges each student within a larger context of guidance and support.
Our unique, small-school environment offers us an opportunity to address writing skills, reading skills, and public speaking with an extra level of personal attention. Our classrooms, our projects, and our assignments are all designed to push each student to discover her unique strengths and interests within an environment that encourages her and respects her right to speak her mind.
One of the highlights of the Spring Term is poetry month and the poetry festival. We hold a school-wide contest and students at all levels are encouraged to submit poetry to the department. We then choose winners and runners-up and those students read their poems to the whole community in a special assembly to which we also invite a local poet.
