IEA Teams Earn Champion & Reserve Champion at Mystic Valley

Stoneleigh-Burnham's Varsity Basketball team played against stiff competition in the Miss Hall's School Tip Off Basketball tournament on December 7th and 8th in Pittsfield, MA.
SBS Celebrates National Computer Science Week Through "Hour of Code"    
Students will participate in “Hour of Code 2103” as part of National Computer Science Education Week, celebrated Dec. 9-15. Designed to introduce basic computer coding to 10 million people, Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn how to do it.
SBS Hosts Gold Cooler Jumping Series Show on December 7th    
Now in its third year, the Gold Cooler Jumping Series is the largest and fastest growing indoor show jumping series in the northeast. Stoneleigh-Burnham will host three shows in the series on December 7th, January 11th, and February 22nd.
SBS Equestrian Center Receives Prestigious BHS Approval    
The Equestrian Center has been certified as a British Horse Society-approved Livery Yard, Riding School and Facility, making it the first and only secondary school equestrian facility in the United States to achieve this prestigious status.

On Saturday, November 16 Stoneleigh-Burnham School hosted a Zone 1 Hunt Seat IEA Show at which the Upper School team earned Champion and the Middle School team earned Reserve Champion.

C’Quoya H. ‘14 of Schenectedy, NY has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Division I, Rider University in Lawrence, NJ.
Peace Corps Volunteers Visit Language Classes    
Peace Corps volunteers Jill Higgins and Joe Blotnik will visit Kendra Paupst’s Spanish 1 class and Jess Durfey’s Spanish 3 class on Tuesday, Nov. 12 to discuss their experiences in the Dominican Republic, including their work with a cacao farmer cooperative.
SBS Welcomes Visiting Artist Anna Schuleit Haber    
SBS welcomes visual artist Anna Schuleit Haber on Tuesday, November 12. In addition to working with small groups of students in a workshop setting, Schuleit Haber will deliver a free public lecture entitled, “A Lake in the Other Room: Paintings, Installations, and Other Forms of Storytelling” at 6:30 p.m. in the Capen Room.

On Saturday, November 2nd the Middle School IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) team finished as Champions at the Wachusett IEA Show and on Sunday, November 3rd the Upper School IEA team finished as Reserve Champions at the Concord IEA Show.
Varsity Soccer Falls to Putney in RVAL Championship    
For the third year in a row, Stoneleigh-Burnham varsity soccer faced Putney School for the RVAL Championship on Sunday, November 3rd. After defeating Dublin School in the quarterfinals and the Academy at Charlemont in the semifinals, SBS fell to Putney with a score of 4-3.
Father-Daughter Folk Duo Tom & Mally Smith to Perform at SBS    
Stoneleigh-Burnham School will a host a concert by noted songwriter and folksinger Tom Smith and his daugher, Mally, on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Capen Room. The performance is free and open to the public.
Two SBS Students Excel at International Independent Schools' Public Speaking Championship    
Caroline L. '14 (Amherst, MA) and Karen M. '14 (Aleppo, Syria) competed in the 2013 International Independent Schools’ Public Speaking Championships (IISPSC) held Oct. 17-20 at The Country Day School in Ontario, Canada. Both students qualified for the final round in event categories in which they competed.
SBS Students Participate in the 17th Annual Connecticut River Clean-up    
Joining an estimated 2,000 volunteers in four states along the Connecticut River corridor, 16 SBS students rose early Saturday, October 5, 2013, to head to the Green River tributary of the Connecticut River to participate in the Source to Sea Clean-Up Effort.
Junior Francesca E. '15 Competes in New England Equitation Championship    
Riders throughout New England must qualify to compete at the New England Equitation Championships, held every October at the Big E in Springfield, Massachusetts. Junior Francesca E. '15 has qualified and will compete in the Open Equitation 15-17 years class and in the New England Horseman's Council Hunt Seat Medal Finals on her leased horse Bako.
Stoneleigh-Burnham Riders Excel at WNE-PHA    
Francesca E. '15, Elizabeth P. '14, and Olivia C.-L. '19 competed at the Western New England Professional Horseman's Association Final, October 13th at Mount Holyoke College. Riding her leased horse, Bako, Francesca E. '15 finished 1st in the Junior Equitation Over Fences 3' and was Champion in the Junior Medal Finals.
SBS Rider to Show at Prestigious International Morgan Horse Competition    
A member of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School Equestrian Program will compete at the Grand National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show held in Oklahoma City, OK from Oct. 12-19.
SBS Students to Compete in International Public Speaking Competition    
Three students from the Debate and Public Speaking Society will compete at the 2013 International Independent Schools’ Public Speaking Championships (IISPSC). The competition will be held Oct. 17-20 at The Country Day School in Ontario, Canada.
SBS Students Get A Taste of the Culture of Nepal    
Students from Nepal performed traditional songs and dances from the various regions of Nepal during a visit to Stoneleigh-Burnham School in early October.
