After graduating from Union College with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and Biology, Andrea began her teaching career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica where she taught environmental science to students in grades 2-6. Upon her return to the U.S., she worked for a non-profit in downtown Washington, D.C., but missed being in the classroom and decided to earn her M.A. in Transition Special Education from The George Washington University. For three years she worked as a special education teacher specializing in science, math, and academic skills in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Andrea and her husband left the city for greener pastures and have been at Stoneleigh-Burnham School since 2011. Andrea is a middle school science and math teacher, a middle school houseparent, and head coach of the varsity cross country team. Andrea lives in Ferdon with her husband, Josh, and their two fluffy dogs, Beenie and Zooey. Andrea is an avid athlete and enjoys training for and racing in half marathons and long distance relay races with her friends and colleagues on campus. Andrea’s favorite part of working with the girls at Stoneleigh-Burnham is watching them succeed on their own after helping them to build academic and interpersonal skills, inside and outside of the classroom. She also loves hosting movie nights and cooking with the girls in her apartment.
